Position Overview:

To provide high quality, professional and compassionate radiation therapy dosimetry work, under the direction of a leadership. The this position is thoroughly familiar with the physical and geometric characteristics of radiation equipment and has the training and expertise necessary to generate image-based computerized treatment plans based on protocols and methods established by the radiation oncologists and medical physicists. Administers quality control programs in conjunction with the physicist and radiation therapists in the department.

Job Description:

  • Provides treatment planning prescribed by leadership.
  • Performs dosimetry calculations.
  • Verifies patient treatment records and dose delivery.
  • Creates isodose plan.
  • Creates reconstruction of patient images form Computerized Tomography (CT)/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans-building computer model of the patient's anatomy and Tumor/Target volume based on the CT/MRI images.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's: Bachelor of Science in Physics related field

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • CMD-Certified Medical Dosimetrist Upon Hire

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to evaluate treatments plans for clinical value and acceptability in clinical situations, to coordinate essential activities in workflow for radiation therapy treatments, and to follow instruction and documented procedures in performing tasks on the computer workstations in an accurate, safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans and communicate these aspects to the radiation oncologist for plan approval, and to the radiation therapist for plan implementation.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
  • Must possess mathematical skills including algebra, trigonometry, and be able to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process.
